Will need to catch up so will re-watch the other episodes which are all brilliant. Love Endeavour! Enjoying the acting, writing, setting and directing so much and the grand classical music scoring. Endeavour is such a complex, layered young man, fascinating.
And Thursday threw us some surprises. Evans and Allam, just the greatest. Sending heartfelt appreciation to the creative team! We just binged all seven seasons… some until the wee hours of the morning. The cast, writing, directing, location and period scene-setting are all unsurpassed. Absolutely love Endeavour. Shaun Evans and the rest of the cast are superb.
I too wish Endeavour could go on forever. If this is the final season give us more than 3 episodes — 5 would be perfect. Absolutely love this show! Happened upon it by accident in season 3. Storyline Edit. Series 1 follows the early police career of young Endeavour Morse, who upon leaving his Oxford College without a degree, spending time in the Royal Signal Corps. Originally starting out his career at Carshall-Newtown Police, Morse transfers to the Oxford City Police in following a murder investigation during the pilot episode.
Inspector Thursday names Morse his designated "bag man" and shows him the ropes as Morse begins to solve a string of complex murders, much to the envy and annoyance of some of his superiors, particularly Detective Sergeant Jakes and Chief Superintendent Bright.
Thursday and Morse's fellow officer, Police Constable Strange, try to steer the young Endeavour into taking his Sergeant's exam, so that he may be relieved of "General Duties" and become Thursday's official "bag man" with the appropriate rank and title. Did you know Edit. In the final scene, as E. Morse looks on the sunset over the quad, bells begin to chime. Next, violins can be heard beginning a loop of the musical version of letters M. Soon, a masterful orchestration is woven in, diversifying this subtle nod to cryptography.
Considering the content of the episode, this thematic and compositional brilliance is perfectly placed. User reviews Review. Top review. Best Ever! In my opinion they are the best English series ever! Absolutely great story lines, great actors The Pilot episode is just wonderful.
They'll also expose a deep-rooted division that is reflected much closer to home. Meanwhile, Endeavour is mourning the death of his married lover Violetta, who died at the end of the last series, and is hitting the bottle in a big way. Drinking too much and numbing yourself is part of a bigger problem. Here's who'll be joining them in the new series We have a very short clip of the detective looking sad by himself drinking and smoking in a pub He walks a step slower maybe Endeavour returns to ITV in 5 days.
What to Watch.
